This blog is written by Chris, a 56 year old male from England and currently living in Canberra.  I was a civil/geotechnical engineer for over 30 years and was in active addiction to alcohol for 36 years, but have now been sober since October 2013.  I have lived with clinical depression since my mid-teens and also suffer from anxiety and PTSD.  I am a mental health advocate and  help present training in Self-advocacy and Consumer Representation.  I have qualifications in Mental Health and Alcohol & Other Drugs support and I am a Fitness Australia registered personal trainer and an Athletics Australia Level 2 Recreational Running Coach.  I am currently working as a delivery driver whilst studying for a double degree in Pyschology and Sports & Exercise Science.  I hope to use my qualifications and lived experience to help persons in recovery from addiction and to improve their lives whilst living with a mental illness.

I love sport, in particular hiking, running and cycling.  I am a Leicester City tragic and also follow Hibernian from my time in Edinburgh.  I also follow the Brumbies rugby union.  I love reading and doing puzzles to keep my mind active.
